On 4th December I decided to interrupt my regular Sunday evening routine of sitting and thinking, to venture into the centre of Cambridge. It is a fact that on most evenings it would take a crow bar or the threat of nuclear attack to remove me from the sofa. Not tonight though, this was the night that Adam Ant came to the Cambridge Corn Exchange.

Prior to his arrival on stage the crowd were greeted by Poussez Posse, fronted by the inconceivably gorgeous Georgina Baillie. Her voice and stage presence were mesmerising. The highlight of the set was a beautiful piece 'Only Women Bleed'. It powered straight off the stage and grabbed us by the throat. It was fantastic. The women providing us with the eargasms were elegant but unflinching. 'When Was The Last Time You Had Sex' was a glorious few minutes.

Then came the moment that was sure to render most of the female revellers in the audience motionless. When Adam came on stage, the first thought that came to mind was he was still capable of sending us into cardiac arrest on first sight. More than 30 years and he is still heart stoppingly gorgeous.

His set was the perfect amalgamation of classic and new material which stood up to his previous work without issue. This was confirmed by the wide age range of the attendees. I met several people in the audience who were 20 years old at most.

The joy of the evening for me was the strength of the new material and Adams connection to his audience. As far as I could acertain, there were no fairweather fans in the audience.

I have been a follower of his for many years, and those that I know who concur with my absolute adoration are loyal to him as an artist. He represents something that is missing from a lot of other artists.

Needless to say every number he performed was a stroke of brilliance. To compliment this, The Poussez Posse were far more than a a warm up act. Their performance seemed an extension of Adams own ability to captivate the people.

My appreciation of him stretches far beyond a retrospective of his earlier work.

I will note that the man is unspeakably gorgeous and dissolves my sensibilities without even trying. Seeing him live was a rare treat for me.

On the other hand, he has never relied upon previous accomplishments to hold peoples attention. His capacity for song writing is still as cast iron as it ever was.

The evening exceeded every expectation. I am so glad I was there.

To many critics there was media hay to be made over his return to the stage in recent years.

To those of us unreservedly seduced by the man and his music, he never left.
